Corduff record first ever senior championship win in Monaghan

Corduff remain unbeaten after two rounds of action.

Corduff recorded their first ever Monaghan SFC victory by beating Truagh 1-13 to 11 points in their second round clash at Truagh.

Corduff made a blistering start and led 0-5 to no score inside 15 minutes. Feargal Hanratty (two), Keith McEnaney, Marc Keenan and Jordan McArdle.

The hosts eventually settled and reduced the margin to two points by half-time; 0-7 to 0-5.

Truagh started the second half impressively. Mark McQuaid’s point restored parity within three minutes of the restart.

Hanratty's score on 42 minutes gave Corduff a three-point cushion. 60 seconds later, he doubled the margin by finding the net.

Truagh responded with four of the last seven scores but still fell short in the end.

Elsewhere, Aughnamullen produced the surprise of the championship when they beat Ballybay Pearse Brothers 3-10 to 1-7. The result moves Aughnamullen into second place in the group one on score difference ahead of Latton.
