Cavan missed out on promotion to Allianz League division one after a two point defeat to Cork.
Cork bossed the game in all fairness and lead 11 points to five at half-time. Two two-pointers from Mark Cronin and Brian O’Driscoll along with three Chris Og Jones points had Cork ahead.
Cavan’s scores coming from Sean McEvoy 0-2, Dara McVeety, Gearoid McKiernan and Cormac O’Reilly. Cavan rallied in the second-half and had the score back to three points with 15 minutes remaining.
However, the visitors pushed out their lead to six again through two Cronin free’s and a Cathal O’Mahony points. Cork led 21 points to 15.
The Breffni side rallied with two two-pointers from Gearoid McKiernan as the game edged toward full-time. However, Cavan didn’t take the half chance to level the game and lost out 21 points to 19.
Cavan finish fourth in division two, while Cork finish fifth.
