Cavan have been defeated in their opening Allianz league for 2026 after a last minute Steven Sherlock two-pointer in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
Cavan recorded the opening three scores of the game. However, Cork found themselves level in the seventh minute following Mark Cronin’s free-kick.
Sean McDonnell's two-pointer gave Cork the lead for the first time in the 14th minute in the first-half.
However, Cavan hit back through a Dara McVeety goal three minutes later. Brian Hurley gave Cork a slender lead once again right before the half-time interval.
Gearoid McKiernan’s two-pointer free for Cavan was followed up by a Ciaran Brady goal, providing the perfect start to the second-half.
Paddy Lynch’s two-pointer extended the lead before Cork started their comeback. Cork converting the next five scores without response before a last minute Steven Sherlock two-pointer broke Cavan hearts.
Cork wining out 24 points to 2-17.
