The All Ireland series gets underway this weekend

With the provincial football championships now complete, the attention turns to the All Ireland series and details of times and venues for those fixtures have been confirmed. Monaghan who lost out in the Ulster final to Armagh at the weekend will welcome Mayo to St Tiernachs Park Clones on Sunday the 31st of May at 4pm. That same weekend will see the Orchard county host Derry in the Box-it Athletic Grounds. Fresh from an historic win in Leinster, Westmeath will have home advantage as they welcome Cavan to Cusack Park Mullingar on Saturday evening the 30th of May at 5pm The first of the fixtures throws in this weekend and is a repeat of last years All Ireland final as Kerry host Donegal in Killarney at 3pm on Saturday. Cork will host Meath, and Kildare are away to Galway. Newly crowned Connacht champions Roscommon will host Tyrone in Dr Hyde Park

There has been some crictism of the draws for the All Ireland series been made before the completion of the provincial competitons. Speaking on Sportsbeat last night former Monaghan player Paul Finlay noted it was unfair on the teams in particular who would have been focusing on provincial finals
