There was disappointment for the Cavan minor footballers on Sunday night as they lost out to Tyrone in the Ulster final. The 2 sides met in Brewster Park Enniskillen after they had registered semi final wins over Donegal and Monaghan respectively. It was the Red Hand county that got off to the better start as they raced into a 6 points to 2 lead, with Cavan then reeling off a number of scores including a goal from Nathan Quigley to take in a 1-07 to 8 point lead at half time. Tyrone registered their first goal early in the 2nd half from Cathal Farley with the all important 2nd one from Joel Kerr coming with 10 minutes remaining. The Breffni side only registered 1 point in the 2nd half and manager Ed O'Hanlon credited the opposition for the pressure they put on them
Cavan will now going into the quarter finals of the All Ireland championship along with Tyrone.
There was disappointment also for the Monaghan minors in their 2nd tier All Ireland encounter with Meath as a last minute goal seen the Royal county progress by 3-20 to 3-17
