The Hills will be alive to the sound of Rally cars for the next 3 days

The Donegal International Rally makes a return this weekend after a Covid enforced break for the past 2 years. Round 5 of the Tarmac championship will see the competitors tackle 20 stages over 3 days. Monaghan's Sam Moffett the winner in 2019 is the number 1 seed on the road in his Ford Fiesta WRC with Keith Moriarty on the notes. Callum Devine and Noel O Sullivan are at number 2 in the first of the R5 generation of cars as they compete in their Volkswagen Polo with current championship leader Josh Moffett and navigator Andy Hayes at 3 in the Hyundai I20

Alister Fisher and Matt Edwards complete the top 5 seeds in Volkswagen Polos. Ryan Loughran will lead of the modified field in his Mark 2 Escort with number 18 on the door with Kevin Eves in the Toyota Corolla Twin Cam and Daniel Mc Kenna in an Escort behind him. Tomorrow (Friday) will see the crews compete over 6 stages followed by 8 on Saturday and a further 6 on Sunday.
