Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup Section B, round three Down 2-15 Cavan 1-15

Cavan bowed out of the Dr. McKenna cup after Down turned the game around, but both sides bow out of the competition.

Cavan led by a goal at half-time 1-6 to six points. Brian O’Connell’s goal on 17 minutes plus points from Paddy Lynch ’45 1f, Oisin Kiernan, James Smith and Oisin Brady (0-2) saw Cavan lead at the break.

A clinical Cavan stretched their lead through Tiarnan Madden and Oisin Brady’s stroked over his fourth point. However, Down never gave up on the game. Rory Mason rattled the net after great link-up play from Havern and Savage.
