Cavan selector Ryan Mc Menamin noted the competition is better than challenge games

With the pre-season tournaments coming to an end this weekend the focus will be turning to the start of the Allianz National football league on the last weekend of the month. While some controversy has surrounded the O'Bryne cup with walk overs and teams pulling out of games, the Bank of Ireland Dr Mc Kenna cup has once again proven to be very competitive and popular with large crowds attending the group and knock out stages. Cavan's interest in the competition ended with a semi final loss to Tyrone and selector with the team Ryan Mc Menamin noted it was an opportunity for new players to get a feel for the intercounty scene ahead of the league

Derry and Tyrone will contest the final this Saturday night at 6pm in the Athletic Grounds Armagh with it Cavan referee Conor Dourneen set to take charge.
