Following on from the release of the Financial statement yesterday from the GAA, it would look like, the Ulster final will remain in St Tiernachs park Clones for now as the association noted that they will be unable to direct any central funds in the short to medium term towards projects including Casement Park in Belfast.
The GAA highlighted losses of over €30 million due to the pandemic last year, as competitions were played out behind closed doors.
The development of Casement park had been delayed initially due to planning issues, with those finally been resolved and the go ahead been given for the project last year.
However the massive loss of revenue for the GAA has seen them highlight they may have to review, rescale or re-phase projects with the focus been on realistic and available sources.
St Tiernachs park Clones has paid host to the Ulster senior final for the most of the past 5 decades with the exception been from 2004 to 2006 when it moved to Croke Park to cater for the large crowds in attendance and last year when it was moved to the Athletic Grounds Armagh due to the restructuring of the competition.
Upon its completion the new stadium in Casement Park is due to have a seating capacity of over 34,000 and would be the main GAA ground in Ulster
