Former favourite Monbeg Genius has been pulled from next month’s Randox Grand National.

The Jonjo O’Neill-trained chaser had a disappointing showing at Kelso before being pulled up in the Ultima at Cheltenham.

Longouse Poet who finished sixth two years ago has also been withdrawn from the showpiece along with top-weight Hewick.

17 horses were scratched from the field overall including Macs Charm, Dunboyne, Mister Coffey and Fiddlerontheroof among others.

The world’s most famous race is scheduled to take place at Aintree on Saturday, April 13th.
