The GAA have released a strongly worded statement following the Irish Independents revelation that that a number of the All Ireland winning Dublin team had engaged in a series of group training drills in contravention of Covid 19 restrictions.
Among those reported to be in the session were Footballer of the Year Brian Fenton, Jonny Cooper, and Brian Howard.
The development involving the 6 in a row All-Ireland winners is a setback to the GAA's plans to allow inter-county panels to return to collective training on April 19th.
Former GAA President Sean Kelly says Croke Park will have to get involved.
In a statement released this morning, the GAA have noted their frustration and extreme disappointment at the report of a potential breach of both their Covid guidelines and those of the Government relating to the restrictions in place around team training.
They have also stated that they will purse the allegations with the units in question at the earliest opportunity and will invoke any necessary disciplinary processes as appropriate.
Acknowledgment has also been given to the overwhelming majority of Counties and Clubs that have complied in an appropriate and responsible way with the restrictions currently in place, and they once again call on all members and units to uphold the integrity of the Association as part of our ongoing efforts to play our role in thwarting the virus and ensuring a return to activity when it is safe to do so.
