Monaghan will face Tyrone in the semi-final of the Bank of Ireland Dr. Mc Kenna cup on Wedensday night (14th January) after they made it 2 wins from 2 in the competition with a 1-17 to 3-08 victory over Fermanagh yesterday in Castleblayney. The vistors led by 1-04 to 1-06 at the break but with the aid of the breeze and the introduction of Michael Bannigan of the bench who contributed 8 points to the scoreboard in a man of the match performance it was the Farney side that prevailed. Manager Gabriel Bannigan noted that load management was the key takeaway with a range of players getting game time and no injuries reported.
That semi final wil throw in on Wednesday evening in Paric Gratten Inniskeen at 7:30
Tyrone qualified for the knock out stages with a 18 points to 1-11 winnners over Down while Donegal overcame Antrim 1-15 to 7 points to secure the best runner up spot and will face Derry in the other semi final. The decider is down for decision on Saturday the 17th
In the other provincial pre-season tournaments, the Mc Grath cup in Munster will see Kerry and Cork face each other on Saturday. The Connacht FBD league, will see Galway taking Mayo with both sides having wins over Leitrim and Roscommon respectively at the weekend. While the O'Byrne cup in Leinster will be contested between Kildare and Westmeath following their semi final wins over Dublin and Offaly
