Gowna progressed to the Cavan senior football final with a five point win over Crosserlough.
Four first-half goals setup this big encounter as Crosserlough led 2-7 to 2-6 at half-time. Gowna going onto win 2-16 to 2-11.
Brandon Boylan opened the scoring with a Crosserlough two-pointer before Emmett Boylan landed the game’s opening goal on four minutes.
Oisin Pierson opened Gowna’s account four minutes later with a point. However, Paddy Lynch found himself in arces of space on 11 minutes and clinically put the ball in the net.
Gowna composed themselves well and Conor Casey made it maker’s takers as he found the net two minutes later.
The sides were all square on the quarter hour, Cian Madden sent over a Gowna point and Daire Madden found the net. 2-2 each.
Tiernan and Conor Madden both sent over points to put Gowna two ahead. Five minutes before half-time the sides were level as Crosserlough’s James Smith and Brandon Boylan landed points.
Crosserlough fired over three quick points before Pierson and Robbie Fitzpatrick replied with points for Gowna. Crosserlough led 2-7 to 2-6 at half-time.
Matthew Costello restored Crosserlough’s two point lead four minutes after the restart. However, Gowna were level on 42 minutes through two Robbie Fitzpatrick points.
Fitzpatrick added his fourth of the day to put Gowna ahead moments later. Conor Madded made it a two point game before Conor Brady fired over a two-pointer. Gowna leading 2-12 to 2-8 with 13 minutes to play.
Conor Casey, Fitzpatrick 0-2 and Cian Madden moved Gowna eight points clear with five minutes remaining. Emmet Boylan converted a 58th minute free for Crosserlough’s first score in 24 minutes.
Paddy Lynch send over a two-pointer, in injury time to put the cherry on the cake as Gowna won out 2-16 to 2-11.
