From a helpful parent to president of a club

Janice Poyntz is a lady in what many would see as a mans world.

President of the Cavan Rugby club, it is a unique position that Janice holds, with very few females in that particular role.

International women's day was marked at the beginning of this month, with Sport Ireland focusing on the role of women within sport both on and off the field.

In a wide ranging interview with Sean Mc Caffrey, Janice noted how her interest in the sport grew from helping out at training sessions with her children even though she knew little about the actual sport. She took up further volunteering opportunities within the club and in 2019 was elected president.
