Ireland well represented on Lions squad

Maro Itoje has been named captain for this summer's tour

15 Irish players have made Andy Farrell's squad for the 2025 Lions tour of Australia - but Caelan Doris and Sam Prendergast have missed out.

Tadhg Beirne, Jack Conan, Tadhg Furlong, Ronan Kelleher, Joe McCarthy, Andrew Porter, James Ryan, Dan Sheehan and Josh van der Flier are included in the forwards. In the backs, Bundee Aki, Jamison Gibson-Park, Mack Hansen, Hugo Keenan, James Lowe and Garry Ringrose are among those on the plane. Maro Itoje has been named captain for this summer's tour, becoming the side's first English skipper since Martin Johnson in 2001. He says it's hard to articulate what it means to lead the team:

England have 14 named in the squad. Scotland have 8 while the Welsh duo of Tomos Williams and Jac Morgan have been included.
