Kingscourt fight back not enough

Kingscourt bow out of Ulster despite spirited comeback to force extra-time.

It took extra-time to separate the sides, with Belleek Erne Gales prevailing with five points to spare.

Erne Gales started the stronger with two goals inside three minutes after Odhran Johnson found the net after nine minutes. Ultan Kelm raised the green flag again on 12 minutes.

Cian Shekleton opened Kingscourts account on 15 minutes moments before Jack McCann got Erne Gaels third goal.

Odhran Johnson got his sides opening two pointer on 25 minutes as Belleek moved into an eleven point lead. 3-4 to 0-1.

Cian Shekleton got the final two scores of the half. Erne Gales took a 10 point advantage into the break, leading 3-4 to 0-3.

Oisin Kelm opened the scoring in the second-half before Cian Shekleton put on a scoring exhibition for Kingscourt.

Shekleton kicked three scores 2 (1P) and a two pointer along with Jordan Morris clipping over a point as Kingscourt reduced the deficit to eight after 46 minutes.

Cormac Yore found the back of the Erne Gaels net on 48 minutes as Kingscourt grew in confidence.

Shekleton added another two-pointer before another effort from his boot brought it back to a three point contest with four minutes remaining.

With two minutes of additional time played Jordan Morris fired over a two pointer drawing the game level.

At full-time in normal time it finished level, 1-14 to 3-8.

Cian Shekleton kicked Kingscourt into the lead after one minute of play in extra-time. However, Seamus Ryder quickly responded for Erne Gaels to yet again draw the side’s level.

Oisin Kelm kicked a two-pointer before Ryan Lyons fired over a point of his own as Erne Gaels moved into a four point lead approaching half-time in extra-time.

Jordan Morris got Kingscourts only score of the second period of extra-time as Shane Rooney and Dan McCann secured the victory for Erne Gaels with a point each.
