Goals proved crucial as Kingscourt Stars claimed the Cavan Senior Football Championship title with a dominant win over Gowna.
Gowna raced into a four-point lead inside the opening seven minutes of the game, Conor Madden converting a stunning two-pointer.
Jordan Morris recorded a two-pointer of his own but it was Gowna that continued to dominate the early proceedings. Madden and Robbie Fitzpatrick maintained their three-point gap.
Following a lengthy stoppage for an injury, the turning point came when Kingscourt found the opening goal of the game. A wonderful move was finished off by Kevin Curtis.
A two-pointer off the outside of the boot of Cian Shekleton was followed up by a second goal just before the half-time. Joe Dillon the scorer on this occasion.
With a six-point deficit to make up going into the second-half, Gowna knew they needed to start on the right foot. However it did not play out that way, as Kingscourt recorded eight scores without reply.
Gowna did finish the game with a pair of Robbie Fitzpatrick scores which was then followed up by a Cian Madden two-pointer.
However, the late flourish was not enough, as Kingscourt Stars claimed the title with a strong and confident display.
Kingscourt Stars winning out 2-16 to 13-points to claim a 12th Cavan senior title.
