Leona Maguire misses out on Matchplay title

Leona Maguire missed out on World matchplay success after a 4&3 final defeat to Nelly Korda.

World number one Korda, opened strongly. Three birdies moving Korda four-up on the seventh. However, Maguire came back. A birdie on the ninth saw Korda lead by three at the turn.

American Korda moved five up on 12, after birdies at 10 and 12. Indeed, this staged a mini-Maguire comeback. The Cavan woman birding 13 and 14.

Alas it was not enough. Korda shot par, on the par-four 15th. As Maguire shot a birdie, the title went to the American.
