Monaghan crews dominated the modified section of the event

Jonathon Greer and Niall Burns took the honours in their Ford Sierra Cosworth at the Killarney Historic Rally on Saturday as they finished 30 seconds ahead of Alan Ring and Adrian Deasy in the Subaru Legacy. Cathan Mc Court and Liam Moynihan completed the top 3 in their Ford Escort. There was disappointment for early leaders Craig Breen and Paul Nagle as their Sierra Cosworth suffered mechanical failure on the way to the last stage. In the Modified section the Donegal pairing of Kevin Eves and Chris Melly took the victory in their Toyota Corolla Twin Cam, 38 seconds ahead of Monaghan's Daniel Mc Kenna and Andrew Grennan in their Escort with another Monaghan crew of Johno Doogan and Paul Lennon completing the top 3 also in an escort. Indeed it was a brilliant showing by local crews in the Kingdom with Dessie Keenan taking 4th overall ahead of Armagh's Jason Black in the Toyota Starlet while Clones driver Raymond Conlon completed the top 6 in his Twin Cam.
