The International, National and Junior sections were all won by local competitors

Josh Moffett with Andy Hayes on the notes took an impressive win on the opening round of the Irish Tarmac Rally championship with a victory at the Corrib Oil Galway international rally over the weekend. The Hyundai I20 R5 crew had 14 seconds to spare over Meirion Evans and Jonathon Jackson in the Volkswagon Polo R5 with Callum Devine and Brian Hoy completing the top 3 in their Ford Fiesta.

The National section also had good local representation with the Cavan pairing Gary Kiernan and Darren O'Brien taking the victory in their Ford Escort Mark 2 ahead of Jason Black and Karl Egan in the Toyota Starlet, while Monaghan's Jack Mc Kenna and Conor Mohan were the winners of the Junior section in the Honda Civic. It was an eventful weekend for navigator Conor Mohan, who had been calling the notes for Eamon Kelly in the Ford Fiesta on Saturday, but they were forced to retire with mechanical issues the Monaghan navigator then taking a last minute call to sit in with Jack Mc Kenna on the Sunday for the Junior section of the rally.
