Monaghan fell to Longford in their Allianz hurling league division four meeting played at Cloghan.
Joe Rabbit, Martin Farrell and Reuben Murray points helped the farney into a six point lead after 23 minutes, Longford lading eight points to two.
Monaghan were reduced to 14 players on the stroke of half-time when James Brady was shown a red card. Longford took a nine point lead to the break, 12 points to three.
A goal straight from throw-in at the beginning of the second-half, strengthened Longford’s grip on the game. Joe Rabbitte finding the back of the Monaghan net, Longford now leading 1-12 to 0-3.
Monaghan did respond with points from Niall Garland, Niall Arthur and Eithan Flynn.
However, further points form Rueben Murray and Martin Farrell who finished the game with a personal Tally of 0-09, helped secure the win for Longford.
Longford running out 13 point winners in Cloghan, on a score line of 1-23 to 0-13.
