Magheracloone prove too strong for Corduff

Magheracloone will face Inniskeen in semi-final

Magheracloone progressed to the Monaghan SFC final with a straight forward win over Corduff.

A dominant opening 25 minutes built the foundation for a comfortable Magheracloone 12-point victory over Corduff.

Two points from Alan McCauley set the tempo for Magheracloone early on. Indeed, they went two points up inside the opening three minutes of play.

Corduff who were struggling to gain a foothold then found themselves four points down when Packie Doogan Burke and Dylan Byrne fired over a point each in the space of a minute.

On eight minutes, Magheracloone led by four points to no score. Alan McCauley added another free, this time from outside of the two point arc.

Paidi McMahon was the next player to find the target for Magheracloone, as they moved into an eight point lead.

Dylan Farrelly added another point before Jamie Kiernan got the opening goal of the contest for Magheracloone on 22 minutes. Corduff who were still scoreless now trailed by 12 points.

Inniskeen await in semi-final

Corduff registered their first score on 26 minutes when Sean Burns fired over, before Michael Connolly raised the green flag for Corduff.

The late surge in the half from Corduff continued when Diarmuid Marren fired over a point on the stroke of half-time.

Magheracloone were leading by seven points on a score line of 1-9 to 1-2 at the break.

Paudie McMahon and Allen Kearns opened the scoring for Magheracloone in the second-half, restoring their eight-point lead on 38 minutes.

Sean Burns and Fergal Hanratty added scores for Corduff who looked to reduce the deficit further coming into the closing 10 minutes of the contest.

Any hopes of that were dashed when Jack Doogan got Magheracloones second goal with 57 minutes played. A further two point free from Alan Kearns sealed a 12 point victory.

Magheracloone progressing to the semi-finals, 2-14 to 1-5.
