Maguire opens Kia Classic with even round

Leona Maguire fought back to shoot a level par 72 on day one of the Kia classic in Carlsbad California.

Maguire battled back after opening with two bogeys, having started on the front nine and bogeying the par four 15^th and 18^th.

However the Cavan woman was very impressive on the front nine with a birdie at the par three third and then pulling herself back to level par with a birdie at the par five eighth.

The score left Maguire on level par after day one. Korean Inbee Park leads after day one having shot a six under par 66.
