While there was no podium finish for Max McRae at the weekend in Australia as he made his 4 wheel drive debut in a Subaru Impreza WRX, the 16 year old did make his mark with Monaghan navigator Mac Kierans alongside him as they set fastest times on 8 off the 12 stages, and only lost out on the overall victory at the Novus Glass Winvale Park Stages with a fuel pump failure on stage 5 which seen them drop down the leaderboard, following a 5 minute time penalty.
The Scot who is a son of the former world rally competitor Allister, is expected to revert back to his R2 Ford Fiesta for up coming events, having driven the Subaru following a delay to his own car arriving in Perth.
