Alister Fisher with Gordon Noble on the notes were the winners of this years Circuit of Ireland in their Volkswagon Polo finishing 11 seconds ahead of Josh Moffett and Andy Hayes in the Hyundai I20 R5.The Monaghan driver had been leading going into the final stage and looked like securing his 4th win of the year however a decision by the organisers to drop the bogey time on the final stage seen Fisher in the Polo claim the victory. The modified section was won by Daniel Mc Kenna with Andrew Grennan on the notes in their Mark 2 escort as they took 5th overall placing their car among the more modern R5 machinery. Attention returns back to the national championship this coming weekend with the Ronnie Hawe Monaghan stages Rally.
The seeded entry list has the Moffet brothers at 1 and 2 with Josh set to lead the over subscribed field off in his Hyundai while Sam will be driving the Ford Fiesta W.R.C. Gary Kiernan is the top modified seed in his Mark 2 escort. The Rally which is also a counting round of the Sligo Pallets Border championship takes place on Sunday with the crews set to tackle the traditional 3 stages 3 times format.
