It was an historic occasion with the brothers making it a one two.

It was an historic weekend at the Donegal International rally as the Moffett brothers of Josh and Sam have made it a one two. The Monaghan siblings had started the 3rd day of the rally in 4th and 5th place respectively after a poor tyre choice on Friday seen them chase the leaders from the opening stage. Callum Devin and Matt Edwards claimed the top 2 spots on the opening stages and held them positions all through Saturday with the bigger battle behind them as Josh and Ali Fisher who are both vying for the Tarmac Rally championship locked themselves in a battle for what appeared to be the final podium position.

It was however a final day of high as drama as overall leader Callum Devine was the first to hit trouble as an altercation with a bale on stage 15 seen him exit the event with radiator damage in his Golf. Matt Edwards inherited the lead but amazingly crashed out on stage 16 to hand the lead to Josh Moffett who had moved into 3rd spot when he reeled in Alastair Fisher to take a 3.8 second lead. The major movement at the top of the leader board seen Sam Moffett move from 5th to 3rd with 2 stages to go. The drama continued over the final 2 runs with Fisher puncturing on stage 19 and that dropped him back into the clutches of Sam and give Josh the breathing space at the front to cruise through the last stage and take his first win at Donegal. Further mechanical woes for Fisher on the last stage when he lost his rear brakes seen drop to 5th overall with Sam claiming 2nd and Meirion Evans completing the top 3. Declan Boyle with Monaghan navigator James O'Reilly took 4th spot.
