Monaghan beat Donegal but bow out

Monaghan scored a two point victory over Donegal but failed to progress to the Dr McKenna Cup semi-final.

Vinny Corey registered his first win as Monaghan manager in the 15 points to 2-7 win.

Monaghan led nine points to 1-4 at half-time. The Monaghan scores coming from Michael Bannigan (3, 1f), Sean Jones (2), Darren McDonnell, Stephen O’Hanlon, Shane Carey (2, 1f).

Bradley Walsh opened the scoring with a Donegal goal on three minutes.

Michael Banningan, Rory Beggan (both frees) added to Monaghan’s tally before Luke McGlynn converted a 58th minute penalty to make it a level game.

Bannigan (2 1f), Jack McCarron (f), Johnny McGroody and a Rory Beggan free added sealed the victory for Monaghan.
