The County board noted they were taking the decision in light of the rising cases of Covid 19.

Monaghan county board have become the lastest executive to cancel a number of functions owing to the continued challenges associated with Covid 19. The GAA awards night planned for Tuesday night the 30th of this month has been postponed as has the Volunteer recognition and Appreciation night on Thursday the 16th of December. In their the statement, the County board noted that

Public health advice has requested individuals, companies and organisations to reduce their social interactions and contacts amid the current surge in cases in order to reduce the rate of transmission.

Accordingly, it is essential that Monaghan GAA continue to proceed with the same level of caution and therefore, due to the spiralling case numbers the decision was taken to postpone both events and they will now be rescheduled next year.

That decision follows on from Cavan County board confirming yesterday that they have cancelled their planned 2020 Ulster Championship medal presentation due to be held this Saturday night.
