Monaghan overcame Lancashire at Inniskeen Grattans to keep their Lory Meagher cup hopes alive.
Monaghan led for large parts of the first half as they took a commanding 13 point lead to the break,
At half-time Monaghan led, 0-20 to 0-7.
Lancashire produced an improved second-half show, striking the back of the Monaghan net for goal after 46 minutes.
However, a controlled performance from the home side seen them hold out for the victory. Monaghan running out 12 point winners, 0-28 to 1-13.
Whereas, Cavan fell short to Longford who stages a strong second half comeback at Kingspan Breffni.
Mark Moffett, Dillion Mulligan and Rian Gillen all chipped in with points as Cavan took an eight point lead to the break.
Cavan leading at half time, 0-12 to 0-8.
Sean Keating struck for Cavan’s only goal of the contest on 59 minutes, followed by a Thomas Leonard point but three goals from Longford in the second half probed the difference.
Cavan losing out by nine points, 3-18 to 1-15.
