Monaghan ladies suffered a second defeat in the Lidl ladies Division 2 league, losing out by three points to Donegal on Sunday at the Eire Og club grounds in Smithboro.
It was the visitors who started the better, racing into a 1-2 to no score lead within five minutes.
Susanne Whites fortunate goal in the fourth minute was one of the key scores. Her pointed attempt from a free, dropped in underneath the crossbar.
In fairness it didn't unsettle the Farney side. Who slowly worked their way into the game with points from Chloe Mc Bride, Amy Garland and Eabha Sherry.
Whereas, White kept the score board ticking for Donegal from frees.
By the 25th minute it was back to a one point game with Donegal leading 1-4 to six points.
However, a strong run from Eva Gallagher who started with the number 18 on her back; finished brilliantly to the back of the net. White adding another trade mark free, leaving it 2-5 to six-points at half-time.
With referee Eddie Cuthbert (Down) regularly blowing the whistle in the second-half, the game had a very stop start nature. As frees were exchanged scores to leave 2-8 to nine points with 15 minutes remaining.
A run of three frees from Eabha Sherry reduced it back to a two-point game with five minutes remaining.
However, the hosts were reduced to 14 players when Muireann Atkinson who had come in for alot of attention from the Donegal rearguard was red carded for an off the ball incident.
The sides once again exchanged scores in the final moments with James Daly’s side running out 2-10 to 13 point winners.
Next up for Monaghan is the visit of Westmeath who accounted for Tyrone to St Mary's Park Castleblayney on Sunday at 2pm
