Monaghan's Ulster championship campaign ends

Armagh booked their place in the Ulster ladies football semi-final with a convincing 14 points victory over Monaghan at the Athletic Grounds this evening.

Armagh winning out 2-18 to 10 points and booking their place in the Ulster semi-final and face Tyrone.

Armagh led 1-8 to five points at half-time Alec Clarke finding the Monaghan net two minutes before the break. Monaghan’s points in the first half coming from Ellen McCarron, Casey Traynor, Jodie McQuillan Cora Courtney and Shauna Coyle.

13 minutes after the restart Blaithin Macken found Armagh’s second goal and put the game beyond Monaghan as they led 2-13 to six points.

Monaghan rallied with three points from Cora Courtney and one each from Muireann Atkinson and Rosemary Courtney in the second-half, but the gap was too much and they bowed out of the Ulster championship 2-18 to 0-10.

The sides will meet again on July 10 in the All-Ireland championship group stage.
