Round 3 of the Bank of Ireland Dr. Mc Kenna cup throws this weekend with Monaghan set to welcome Fermanagh to St Marys Park Castleblayney on Sunday at 1:30. Both sides are sitting on 2 points having won their opening games over Cavan. A win for either side will see them into the last 4 of the competition while a draw will also be good enough for the Farney side to progress as they have a slightly better scoring difference. Manager Gabriel Bannigan was happy with that opening round victory but was mindful that there is always room for improvement
Elsewhere in the competition, Tyrone will face Down in Pomeroy and Antrim welcome Donegal to Toombridge. Tyrone have 2 points on the board and only require 1 more to make the knock outstages. A win for Down would see the group which includes Armagh been decided by score difference. Donegal will have their first competitive outing but have a point already as their opening game against Derry fell foul of the wintry conditions with both sides been awarded a point.
