The Farney side begin their Division 1 campaign away to Dublin

The inter-county season proper gets underway this weekend with the beginning of the Allianz National football leagues.

In division 1, Monaghan will go up against Dublin in Croke Park with a half-seven throw-in.

The Farney side ended their 2023 season with defeat to the dubs in the All-Ireland semi-final. Indeed, Dessie Farrell’s side went onto lift the Sam Maguire Cup.

Pre-season tournaments saw Dublin reach the O'Byrne Cup where an experimental team lost out to Longford. Whereas, Monaghan reached the semi-final of the Dr. McKenna cup where they went down to a strong Donegal side.

Manager Vinny Corey remarked, similar to the McKenna cup, the early stages of the league will be used to give new players and members of the extended panel some game time.

Other fixtures in Division 1 sees Derry away to Kerry, Galway hosting Mayo and Rosommon making the trip to Tyrone.
