Monaghan have defeated Meath to seal promotion back to division one in the Allianz Football League.
It was the hosts who started brightest. Scoring, two points inside the opening minute. The sides were back level on 12 minutes with Conor McCarthy getting the decisive Monaghan score.
Stephen O’Hanlon and Michael Bannigan gave Monaghan control of the game, before Jack McCarron scored a two pointer off the outside of his left boot.
It was Andrew Woods’ goal on 25 minutes that showcased the control that Monaghan had on the game. Ryan McAnespie unlocked the Meath defence and played the ball off to an open Andrew woods who buries it to the back of the net.
With a 15 point deficit at the break, Meath knew they had work to do, and with the wind at their back, they started the second period the brighter of the two sides. Eoin Frayne found the back of the Monaghan net just under the minute mark.
However, the farney managed to weather the storm, and kept their side of the score board ticking over.
Meath created far more going forward but Monaghan kept the gap safe and defeated Meath by nine points. Monaghan winning out 1-29 to 1-20.
