Monaghan taking positives from opening fixtures of the Allianz league

It has been one win and one loss from the opening two weekends for the Farney side

With two rounds of the Allianz national football league complete, teams are finding their positions in the tables.

Division 1 sees form teams Mayo and Derry unbeaten in their opening two fixtures and are on four points each.

Kerry, Tyrone and Monaghan occupy third, fourth and fifth places on two points with a win and a defeat each.

Roscommon and Galway picked up their first points when they drew at the weekend while Dublin prop up the table as they await their first win.

Following their opening day win over Dublin, Monaghan faced an experienced Kerry side in Clones on Sunday. Kerry brought a number of players who featured in last years All-Ireland final defeat including the Clifford Brothers Paudie and David who had not been expected to make a return untill round three.

Vinny Corey again made use of his extended panel due to a number of injury concerns. Corey noted there was a number of positives to take from the defeat.
