Munterconnaught will meet Emyvale in the quarter-finals

There was drama aplenty in The Box-IT athletic grounds as it took penalties to separate Munterconnaught and Clonmore.

Munterconnaught raced into an eight point lead after 18 minutes. It appeared Munterconnaught were in cruise control, in this Ulster junior championship meeting.

A strong showing from Clonmore though in the remaining 10 minutes of the first-half reduced their lead to five points heading into the break. At half-time Munterconnaught were leading nine points to four.

Whereas, two Clonmore goals left them a point-up after 51 minutes. Munterconnaught replied with a free to level proceedings as the sides remained level at full-time, meaning extra-time.

Whereas, Munterconnaught took a four point lead into half-time period of extra-time. Like the second-half of regular time, Clonmore fought back as to bring the game to penalties.

The game finished Munterconnaught 1-18 Clonmore 2-15 after extra-time.

Munterconnaught were far the more clinical, scoring three of their penalties while Clonmore failed to score any of their attempts from the spot.

Munterconnaught will now meet Monaghan neighbours Emyvale in the Ulster semi-final.
