The 2025 National Athletics Indoor Championships are underway in Abbotstown and plenty of local athletes were representing their clubs on day one
Sean Harding of Shercock AC was unlucky to miss out on a place in the final of the men’s 200m as he ran a very impressive 22.40 in his heat.
Monaghan Phoenix’s also ran a strong 200m heat but it wasn’t enough to land a spot in the final.
In the 400m, Monaghan Phoenix’s Daisy Walker performed brilliantly as she made it out of her heat with a time of 55.93.
However, she narrowly missed out on a place in the final as she found herself up against Irish Olympics hero Sharlene Mawdsley in the semi-final.
Onto the distance runs, Longford AC’s Fiona Gettings provided a strong display as she came close to snatching a place in the final of the 1500m but narrowly missed out.
