It was announced earlier in the summer that Cavan would have a representative in the Ladies Basketball National League with Mc Evoys Cavan Eagles entering into division 1 alongside St Pauls of Killarney, and the 3 Dublin teams Oblate Basketball club, Mc Gowans Tolka Rovers and Abbey Seals Dublin Lions. With the club having only been established 10 years ago it has been a remarkable growth for the Virginia based outfit who can boast their own Olympic standard playing floor at the Virginia Show Centre. Indeed that is where Sean Mc Caffrey found myself recently as the centre played host to the return of the annual agricultural show, the centre at that time was playing host to the comforts of the entrants for the Baileys champion cow. Upon the completion of the show, the centre would then be transformed back into a basket ball arena. Brother and and sister Ciara and Sean Brady are both members of the East Cavan Eagles club and Sean had the opportunity to speak to them both, firstly remarking to Ciara how strange is it to see animals in the very place where they will be playing basketball in a few weeks time
