New York landed a maiden Lory Meagher Cup title at Cavan’s expense.
New York scoring a 4-17 to 2-17 victory at Croke Park, where Tomas O’Connor, AJ Willis, Dara Walsh and David Mangan (penalty) struck the New York goals.
O’Connor’s goal saw Richie Harnett’s men move into a 1-3 to four point lead. Whereas, Cavan kept it close with from Liam O’Brien and Cillian Sheanon.
However, goals from Willis and Walsh saw New York head in at the break with a 3-11 to 0-13 ahead.
The Breffni men would have skipper Enda Shalvey black carded at the start of the second-half. The resulting penalty which Mangan fire home made it a 10-point game.
The New York lead was pushed out to 11 at one stage before Nicholas Kenny scored a 53rd minute Cavan goal.
Aidan Organ and former Galway star Jonathan Glynn sent over points at the other end in reply, but they were wiped out by O’Brien’s penalty.
Another point from captain Glynn steadied things for New York who won out by six points.
