Clones boxer Larry Fryers suffered a 3rd consecutive defeat in the ring when he was stopped by Top Rank teen sensation Xander Zayas in the 3rd round on Saturday night. Fryers entered the fight as the underdog, but certainly appeared to have the credentials to cause the 18 year old some difficulty. However Zayas who remains unbeaten in 9 fights, landed the better combinations in the opening round and continued that in the 2nd. A stunning left hook in the 3rd, rocked the Monaghan man and with Zayas smelling the knockout he applied enough pressure for the referee to step in. It will be interesting to see what path the Las Vegas based Fryers will take now. His recent teaming up with Wayne Mc Cullough may possibly lead him to taking on a number of Irish fights.
