Following a poor 2021 season the Breffni county will be looking to get their New Year off to a good start

This evening (Thursday 6th) will see the Bank of Ireland Dr. Mc Kenna cup competition get underway as Cavan welcome Armagh to Kingspan Breffni at 7:45pm. Michael Graham bolstered his backroom team in recent months with All Ireland winner Ryan Mc Menamin coming in as well as former Breffni forward Seanie Johnston. It is been reported that the majority of the panel is available to the management this year with Ciaran Brady and Oisin Pierson the only long term injury concerns as they recover from cruciate and shoulder injuries. Cavan will be looking to get their competitive year of to a good start following relegation to Division 4 last year and an Ulster championship loss to the eventual provincial and All Ireland winners Tyrone.

Chairman of the county board Kieran Callaghan acknowleged it was unfortunate how things had went in 2021 but they had to accept the only way is up
