Max Campbell opened the scoring for Naomh Conaill with a minute played. However, following this score an eight minute scoring draught commenced.
Scotstown corner back Darragh Murray ended the draught in style, burying the ball to the back of the Naomh Conaill net after nine minutes.
Eoghan McGettigan replied for Naomh Conaill before Tommy Mallen and Jack McCarron pushed Scotstown into a three point lead.
Darragh Murray got his second goal on 16 minutes. Murray powered forward and was picked out before getting the better of Stephen McGrath in the Naomh Conaill goal for the second time inside eight minutes.
Kieran Hughes got the opening two-pointer of the afternoon after 17 minutes. The magnificent Max Maguire put Scotstown nine points ahead on the 20 minute mark.
John O’Malley responded for Naomh Conaill with a two-pointer. However, Max Maguire matched his effort after 26 minutes as the Monaghan champions made full use of the breeze at their back.
Powerful Scotstown opening
Jack McCarron added two further points as the game approached half-time. Naomh Conaill tried to muster up a response through Brendan McDyer and Eoghan McGettigan points. At half-time Scotstown led by 10 points, 2-10 to 0-6.
Eoghan McGettigan and Max Maguire traded scores early in the second-half. Shane Malone struck over a Naomh Conaill two-pointer, who now had the breeze at their back.
Three consecutive scores from the boot of Max Maguire in nine minutes, 2 (1P), 1 (2P), pushed the Scotstown lead back out to nine points.
Two Naomh Conaill points inside a minute from the ever present Eoghan McGettigan and Keelan McGill, was met with a response from the retuning Nicholas Sherlock who fisted over following an end line run.
Scotstown leding by 11 points after 49 minutes, 2-16 to 0-11. Ryan O’Toole was controversially shown a straight red card 10 before the end.
Shane Malone fired over a two-point free, as Naomh Conaill desperately attempted to make their numerical advantage count.
Eoghan McGettigan, Naomh Conaills standout performer all afternoon registered another point, before Shane Malone got the final score of the contest with a two-pointer in injury time.
