Scotstown reached the Monaghan senior football championship final with a 1-13 to 1-6 victory over Corduff at Clones.
The result was never in doubt. Scotstown dominated the contest and finished with seven points to spare.
Scotstown hit three points inside the opening seven minutes before Diarmuid Marron’s goal levelled the game 60 seconds later.
David McCague’s side responded impressively. Jack McCarron’s pointed mark saw Scotstown move four points clear on 28 minutes.
The teams traded a point each during the remainder of the first half. Scotstown led 0-9 to 1-2 at half-time.
Corduff’s Fergal Hanratty made it a two-point game by slotting over a free on 49 minutes. Three minutes later, McCarron restored Scotstown’s four-point cushion.
Shane Carey and Sean McEnaney subsequently traded a points before Francis Maguire’s last-gasp goal sealed a comfortable victory for Scotstown.
Scotstown will face Inniskeen in the Monaghan county final. Inniskeen scored a 2-16 to 2-12 victory over Clontibret.
