Scotstown claimed the Monaghan senior football title with a three point win over Inniskeen.
Jack McCarron sent over five points as Scoststown claimed their 27th Monaghan title. Their eighth in 11 years.
Scostown winning out 17 points to 14 in Clones. Scotstown having led 11 points to nine at half-time.
Conor McCarthy and Jack McCarron mark had Scotstown two to the good after three minutes. Donal Meegan responded with an Inniskeen free.
McCarron added one from play and a second mark either side of Andrew Woods points as Scotstown led four points to two on nine minutes.
Ciaran Mcnulty brought it back to a one point game as Damien McArdle responded immediately.
Durnin and Woods levelled the game on 21 minutes at five points each. However Scotstown responded in their only fashion with two quick points.
McCarron’s fourth score of the game was cancelled out by Sean Jones on 25 minutes. Shane Carey and Jones (mark) exchanged scores as we edged toward half-time.
A Rory Beggan free and a point from Shane Carey moved Scotstown four clear with a minute of normal time remaining.
However, Woods and McNulty responded with points as Scostown led 0-11 to 0-9 at half-time.
McCarron was central to the opening score of the second-half, making space for Jason Carey to convert.
Whereas, a Sean Jones free and one from play kept Inniskeen in-touch. Ciaran McNulty levelled the game nine minutes into the second-half.
Rory Beggan converted a 45 to restore Scotstown lead, Andrew Woods responding to make it 13-points each.
Scotstown surge for the line
McCarron converted a mark to put Scotstown back in-front, a score which saw them head for home. McCarthy, Mattie Maguire and a McCarron free saw Scotstown lead by four with five minutes to play.
Sean Jones sent over Inniskeen’s 14th point of the day, alas it wasn’t enough.
Scotstown claimed the Monaghan title by three points 0-17 to 0-14 and setup a meeting with Fermanagh’s Derrygonnelly Harps in the ulster championship.
