Cavan County Board made a "Smart Move" by releasing a statement yesterday evening quashing any talk of a change of venue for their All Ireland

Cavan County Board made a "Smart Move" by releasing a statement yesterday evening quashing any talk of a change of venue for their All Ireland semi final according to a well known GAA correspondent.

Writer with the Anglo Celt Paul Fitzpatrick remarked that the initial talk about taking the last 4 encounter out of Croke Park was brought up by the media in the aftermath of Cavans shock win over Donegal in the Ulster championship final.

A number of pundits, former all Ireland winners and indeed former Breffni players all voiced the opinion that the fixture be took out of Croke Park as it is handing an advantage to Dublin.

Indeed when questioned on it at the start of the week, Cavan manager Michael Graham also seemed to be in favour of a venue move, but this was countered by Thomas Galligan noting he would be happy to play Dublin anywhere, even on the "Back street".

However a strongly worded statement from the County board last night  (Wednesday), has put an end to any speculation as they noted they have never considered or have any intention of applying for a venue change for their upcoming all Ireland semi final.

The statement finishes by saying they are honoured and look forward to playing the semi final as is fixed by the CCC.

Speaking on the J.F show this morning, Paul Fitzpatrick noted it was a "smart move" from the county board to clarify the situation

The semi final is fixed for Saturday the 5th of December at 5:30 in Croke Park.
