St Pat's Cavan secured a closely fought 38-36 win over Castleisland CC to win the U16 "A" Boys All Ireland Schools cup at the National Basketball Arena on Tuesday evening. MVP Arda Ozden finished the game with 14 points. It was the Breffni side that started the brighter as they raced into a 5-2 lead with the Kerry closing it back to 1 point 8-9 as they headed into the 2nd quarter. St Pats took an element of control with Oluebube Azubuike, Darlintin Olayemi and Ozden all scoring to leave it 20-11 at the break. The 3rd quarter seen both sides trade scores but it was still the Cavan representatives that held the initiative towards the end of the quarter by 30-23. The final quarter seen Castleisland literally throw everything at it as they managed to level up the scores 32-32 but Olayemi and Fortune Igbojionu regained the lead for St Pats and they held out for a popular win.
