A number of new cars will be taking to the start line

The Irish rally season gets underway this weekend with the Galway international Rally the opening round of the Tarmac Championship. The event makes a welcome return having been cancelled last year due to Storm Eowyn. Defending champion Callum Devine with navigator Noel O'Sullivan are the number 1 seeds in their Skoda Fabia R2 with national champion Eddie Doherty and co-driver Tom Murphy at 2 also in a Skoda. The Donegal and Monaghan pairing of Eamon Kelly and Conor Mohan complete the top 3 seeds in their newly acquired Toyota Yaris. Also debuting a new Toyota will be Josh Moffett and Andy Hayes who will have the number 6 on the door. The quality of the entry sees the top modified seed at number 20 in the form of Patrick Mc Hugh and Pauric O'Donnell in a Darrian T90

Begining on Saturday, crews will compete over 15 stages over two days with Day 1 based in and around Headford and Tuam and Day 2 in the Monivea Area.
