With the Allianz league competition now completed, the promotion and relegation positions have been confirmed, while just the one final took place with Derry accounting for Offaly in the Division 3 decider in Croke Park on Saturday last. With the re-scheduling of the GAA calendar, it is straight into the provincial championship for the inter-county panels and once again it is straight knock out with no safety net of the back door. In the Northern Sound region, it was a mix league campaign for Monaghan and Cavan as the Farney side retained their Division 1 status for an 8th consecutive year, while Cavan suffered a surprise loss to Wicklow a result that consigned them to Division 4 for 2022.
