Monaghan suffered a heavy defeat on their return to division 1 football by Armagh.
It was Armagh that took control early on, converting nine scores in a row before half-time, including a two-pointer in the 27th minute of the game.
With the gap at 11 points at half-time, it was always going to be a tough second half for Gabriel Bannigan’s side.
Micheal Bannigan did get the opening score of the second-half but it was swiftly responded to by Oisin O’Neill.
Andrew Woods then scored the first 2 pointer of the day to make it a 10 point game but Armagh continued to keep Monaghan at arm’s length and never let the lead slip.
With Gabriel Bannigan emptying the bench, Armagh were able to see the game out and inflict a losing return to division 1 for Monaghan.
Armagh wining out 1-27 to 18 points.
