Waterford secured League of Ireland premier division football for 2026 with a 2-1 promotion/relegation play-off win.
Sam Glenfield’s 74th minute winner, finally broke Bray hearts who had hug on after taking a surprise early lead in Tolka Park.
Conor Knight gave the Wicklow lead a surprise eighth minute lead. Knight drilling home Max Murphy’s diagonal ball, which really should have been cleared.
Waterford were level on the half-hour. Dean McMenamy’s one-two with Shamrock Rovers loanee Conan Noonan, resulted in McMenamy riffling the ball home.
The full-time outfit dominated as the game ticked by. Bray held out until 16 minutes from time. Glenfield rode defender Cian Doyle’s challenge before firing home to the bottom corner.
The win, just Waterford’s second in 12 games, secures premier division football at the RSC in 2026.
